Acquisition Metrics

Measure how people discover and start using your product.
Examples:

  • Traffic / Visits (organic, paid, referral)
  • Sign-ups or New Accounts
  • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
  • Activation Rate (percentage of new users who reach a key first milestone)

Engagement Metrics

Track how actively and frequently people interact with your product.
Examples:

  • Daily / Weekly / Monthly Active Users (DAU, WAU, MAU)
  • Session length & frequency
  • Feature usage rates
  • Engagement depth (e.g., number of actions per session)

Retention Metrics

Measure how well your product keeps users coming back over time.
Examples:

  • Retention rate / Churn rate
  • Cohort analysis (retention curves)
  • Repeat usage patterns
  • Time to churn

Monetization Metrics

Reflect your ability to generate revenue from your product.
Examples:

  • Average Revenue per Customer (ARPC)
  • Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)
  • Conversion rate from free to paid
  • Gross margin (percentage of revenue left after covering the direct costs of delivering your product or service)
  • Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)

Track how users feel about your product and the quality of their experience.

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS)

  • Customer Effort Score (CES)
  • Bug reports & defect rates
